1984, by George Orwell

Everyone knows the dystopian world in 1984, but few people know the story of the main character. That’s because the main character’s story isn’t really that worth reading. Winston is only a means to explain this world. I’m glad to see the book’s purpose is to explain Orwell’s dystopian world.

Fun fact: Orwell’s real name is Eric Blair, and the title was derived from the date it was written (1948, with the last two numbers switched). Also fun fact: Orwell, oddly enough, considered himself a socialist.
